The 2009 Honda TRX 420 ATV (commonly known as the Rancher 420) is a reliable mid-size utility all-terrain vehicle designed for work and recreational trail riding. It features a 420cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine with Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI), delivering smooth throttle response, strong low-end torque, and dependable performance in a variety of terrains. The engine uses an OHV valve configuration with a 9.8:1 compression ratio and bore and stroke of 86.5 mm × 71.5 mm, providing efficient power and durability. The ATV is equipped with either a five-speed manual, electric shift, or automatic transmission with reverse, and a shaft-drive system with selectable 2WD/4WD for improved traction and handling. Suspension consists of independent double-wishbone front suspension and a rear swingarm or independent setup with hydraulic shocks, offering approximately 160 mm (6.3 in) of travel for a comfortable ride over rough terrain.
